We're open

We’re open. From tonight, Rebel Combat Sports is a club you can walk into rather than a website making promises.

What’s on this week

Weekly training schedule
Day Time Session Note
Monday 19:30–21:00 Structured no-gi grappling
Tuesday 09:00–10:30 Gi BJJ Gi required.
Thursday 19:30–21:00 Structured no-gi grappling
Friday 19:00–20:30 Gi BJJ Gi required.
Saturday 13:00–14:30 Structured no-gi grappling
Sunday 09:00–11:00 Free Open mat Free. Experienced grapplers welcome. Roll at your own pace.

I coach the no-gi sessions; Adrian runs the gi ones. Sunday’s open mat is free to anyone — no membership, no booking, turn up.

That’s six days out of seven, from this week, not “once we’ve built numbers up”.

What you’re actually walking into

Grappling, coached as a sport. Sessions are structured around a plan rather than whatever I felt like showing that night, live rounds happen every session, and you’re paired with intention rather than thrown at whoever’s nearest. Beginners and experienced people work from the same session, because the coaching scales.

Nobody bows. Nobody lines up by rank. Nobody calls me anything except Ben. The room is not organised around me, and it isn’t organised around a hierarchy — that’s deliberate, and it’s most of why this club exists at all.

If you’ve never done anything like this, here’s exactly what your first session looks like, minute by minute. There are no surprises in it on purpose.

Everything I said is now testable

Over the last four weeks I’ve published thirteen pieces on this site. I’ve told you what “genuinely good” actually costs in hours. I’ve told you why I coach it as a sport. I’ve told you what happened when a coach took my rank away, and what I built here so it can’t happen to you.

All of that was written before a single person had paid me anything, which was the point. It’s easy to describe a good room. It’s harder to describe one in that much detail a month early and then have to open the doors on it.

Every claim on this site was made in public before we opened. Now you can come and check them.

So check them. If a session doesn’t look like what I said it looks like, that’s a fair thing to hold me to, and I’d rather hear it from you on the mat than not hear it at all.

Coming in

The first two weeks are free for anyone local to Eastbourne — both sports, no card, no commitment. Turn up, train, and decide afterwards. If you’d rather see the room before you train in it, Sunday’s open mat costs nothing and asks nothing.

Founding membership is still open: £45 a month, locked for life, capped at thirty people. The count and the details are on the pricing page — when they’re gone the rate goes to standard, and that’s the only urgency I’m going to manufacture.

Four weeks ago this was an empty mat and a plan. Tonight it isn’t. Book a trial, or just come to a Sunday and roll.

See you on the mat.
