Open Mat & Drop-In Grappling in Eastbourne

Rebel Combat Sports runs a free open mat every Sunday, 9:00–11:00, in Eastbourne: no membership, no booking, no commitment. Experienced grapplers can also drop in to any coached no-gi or gi session for £15.

The open door

Already train? Come and roll.

Not everyone walking in is starting from scratch. If you already train — somewhere else, somewhere you've left, or a club you've moved away from — you don't need the beginner runway. You need a good room, good rounds, and no fuss. That's what the open mat is for.

Our Sunday morning open mat is free, every week. No membership, no booking, no commitment — turn up, warm up, and roll. It's the honest way to find out whether a club is for you: not a sales pitch, just the people you'd actually be training with.

Who it's for

Experienced grapplers new to Eastbourne. People between clubs, or who've drifted away and want back on the mat. Anyone training elsewhere who's curious how we do no-gi. Come once, roll, and decide for yourself — there's no pressure either way.

When it runs

This week on the mat

  • Wednesday 12:00–13:00 Lunchtime open mat Members or £15 drop-in
  • Sunday 09:00–11:00 Open mat Free

The first two weeks are free, with no card needed. Parking is free, right outside. Full schedule and pricing

How it works

When, what to bring, the vibe.

Open mat runs Sunday, 9:00–11:00 — free, every week. There's also a lunchtime open mat on Wednesday, 12:00–13:00, which is in the membership or a £15 drop-in. Bring shorts and a rashguard, a mouthguard for live rounds, and a water bottle. Sliders for off the mat, bare feet on it.

The rounds are relaxed and the room is friendly — you set your own pace, tap early, and nobody's out to prove anything. We match rounds with intention, so you get the work you came for.

Prefer a coached session? Drop in to any structured class — no-gi or gi BJJ — for £15, no membership needed. And if you decide the room's for you, see the full schedule and pricing.
